Even nonmembers can access some great classes on the site and are welcome to attend our on-line crop on this Saturday, January 17. If you have a headset and microphone you can join in the audio conversation. If you do not have a headset and microphone, there is a chat box for typed conversations and links. (Earbud headsets and basic computer built in mikes can work.) If you have a camera you can let us see what you are working on and one person at a time can even share their screen if they wish.

“I picked this sketch because I am a fan of Kim Watson’s delightful layered bits style. It used one photo and I’ve wanted to do a page with this story and photo of my weight loss for some time.”

“I found the multiple colors in the photo a bit challenging at first but the multiple pieces in the template was a help because I found I could incorporate enough color in the elements to unify the page. I used two kits by the same designer to be sure all the multiple parts worked together and I kept pretty much to the structure of the page though I did rotate it.”

Hope everyone is having a fabulous New Year!

I played around today learning a bit more from Danielle Young at Scrapaneers.

I had fun creating this set of #pocket cards. The candles are not specific to any holiday, just ideas from several.

Don't forget to get out your glitter glues and add them to the card sets.

The classes Danielle teaches are great and really helped me recall things I've learned before in Illustrator. I highly recommend you check out Scrapaneers for classes. Lots of fun and useful stuff there.

I probably should have done more around the house today since time is counting down to my trip to CHA. I've been studying design trends and it will be fun to see how many of them are incorporated into the new products.

 Here is a layout I made recently for Get It Scrapped/ Masterful Scrapbook Design.

It features my lovely granddaughters in the Hanboks I bought them when I was in Korea. The temple outbuildings where the bell hangs is a photo I took. Since I was making a pink and navy themed page I played with blending modes in Photoshop to convert it to a scenic patterned paper. I made a brush, too then used that to make my pink and navy patterned paper.

Yes, I'm finding digi fun. 

I still love paper scrapbooking, too. My other design for my team contribution this month was a paper layout. It's a travel story about Anna's blackboard at the palace in Bangkok. I went with trendy design. Much of the product is new and it is all inspired by current fashion trends of red lace and lace with masculine prints and the office supply trend that continues to be popular.

Sizzlin Summer Paper Chase Northern California

I wasn't going to join the Paper Chase today. Joe got a lot of little chores done around the house and our lunch and errands did not take nearly as long as I'd thought they would. I checked and saw Angela, lead Fiskateer, had not travelled too far down 99. I decided that I could easily catch up with her. Not exactly "easily" with two accidents on the road south to deal with. Nonetheless, after finding out I had not missed her by much in Galt -"A Tale in Time" with friendly owner Dale pictured here - I caught up with her and her kids in Lodi. Fun store there, "Memories for the Making" with lots of cool stuff. Some neat glitter embellies Angela and I had not seen before.

Next went to "Katie's World" in Stockton. Katie pictured with Angela and holding a delicious minibook. She is having a class in October and I must attend to learn to make this gorgeous and very fun book! Note Angela's son helping her document her progress in the other photo.

Finished up at Kathie's store "Scrapbook Dreams" which I consider one of my LSS ( Green Tangerines in Rocklin is my other). Loved her make and take page!

Drove home on US 5 wondering about all the cars zipping past at 90+MPH. I saw a lot of speed checks on the road, too. Did not seem to slow them down. What were those folk thinking, weaving in and out of traffic at those speeds?!!! Likely, no thought at all.

A Baker's Dozen

OK, was it was supposed to be 13 LO's with one of thirteen items on each?

It probably looks like a hodgepodge but I put everything on one LO. I had most of this stuff in my stash. Used 3 Cosmo Cricket patterned papers but they were left overs from the album I made at My Green Tangerine on NSD. The Hambly transparency I attached at the bottom of the page was a left over, also. Don't you love those fuzzy red brads? (I think they are Creative Imaginations.) The paper flowers and the yellow sqiggle flourish were from a matching page of Cosmo Cricket die cuts. Heidi Swapp bling. Assorted rub ons. Ribbon Cosmo Cricket, We R Memory Keepers and stash. Chipboard piece in right corner a left over from another project. Used Tim Holtz crackle paint in green with his denim distress ink pad on top to get the teal colored chipboard Thickers letters for "Joe". Not sure if the buttons are co-ordinates of the paper or not but they work well.

The rubber ducky gave me something to say about this page. After 20 years it's hard to journal!

Who would have guessed that the mismatched sweats I was so upset that the nanny let son, Joe, wear to his photo shoot would work so well with contemporary 2008 supplies? This was fun! (I really do not have time to do 13 LO's). I used the May monthly sketch from the Fiskars crafts site, too. So, I really challenged myself.
